The Tooro Entrepreneurship Symposium (TESY) focuses on the Tourism, Agriculture, Artisan, and Trade sectors in Uganda's Tooro sub-region. Established in 2016, TESY aims to foster entrepreneurship and industrialization in the area, contributing to economic growth and development. TESY provides a platform for collaboration among entrepreneurs, bolsters business associations, and addresses sector-specific challenges. By promoting a supportive environment for knowledge sharing and problem-solving, TESY encourages entrepreneurship, uncovers investment prospects, and encourages value addition.
TESY serves as a consistent forum for productive business dialogues, facilitating discussions, insights sharing, and exploring opportunities for growth. Guided by values such as Integrity, Honesty, Unity, Innovativeness, Creativity, and Sustainability, TESY promotes innovation, sustainable practices, and transparent conduct.
Dr. Michael Atingi-Ego is a Ugandan economist and currently a Deputy Governor of the Bank of Uganda. At the time of his appointment, he served as the executive director of the Macroeconomics and Financial Management Institute of Eastern and Southern Africa (MEFMI). In 2008, he took up an assignment with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as deputy director of the African Department (AFR), based in Washington, DC.
Before his appointment, was PFSU’s director of policy and business development, a position he has served in for one year. Mr Asiimwe has experience spanning over 30 years in both government and private sector at management, leadership and business leadership levels in Uganda and globally. Mr Asiimwe Stephen has previously served as Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) Executive Director. This was between 2014 and 2019. Before joining UTB, he was the chief executive and Editor-in-Chief of the East African Business Week from 2004 to 2014.
He also worked at New Vision as a reporter, sub-editor and Business Editor from 1993-2004. He holds a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership and Management from the US-based Development Associates International (DAI) affiliated to Uganda Christian University (UCU). He is also a BA Social Sciences graduate of Political Science and Sociology from Makerere University. Asiimwe has a host of post-graduate certificates and diplomas in Management, Education, Marketing, IT and Corporate Governance, among others.
Amos Masaba Wekesa, is a businessman, entrepreneur and corporate executive in Uganda, who is the founder, proprietor and managing director of Great Lakes Safaris Limited, a tour operating company, in the African Great Lakes region. His conglomerate of related tour businesses grosses an estimated US$8 million annually, and employs in excess of 250 people.
Born 22 April 1973 Lwakhakha, Namisindwa District, Uganda and attended Wairaka College for his UCE (Uganda Certificate of Education) and went on to join St. Peter's College Tororo for his further UACE education, (Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education) and with a stronger devotion and passion towards the hospitality industry Mr Amos joined a Tourism School in Kampala where he attained a tourism and hospitality managementCertificate where we know him best as a high ranking tourism and hospitality industry stakeholder Africa wide for his great contributions towards the tourism and hospitality business.
Tumubweine Twinemanzi, is a Ugandan economist and central banker who, effective 7 February 2018, serves as the Executive Director of the Bank Supervision Directorate of the Bank of Uganda, the country's central bank and national banking regulator. Mr TWINEMANZI attended his higher Education at University of Texas, Dallas (Economics, M.S., Ph.D.) and Barcelona Graduate School of Economics University of Florida.
By occupation, Mr TWINEMANZI is an Economist, Central Banker from the year 2000—present. Mr loverman currently serves as the Executive Director of the Bank Supervision Directorate at the Bank of Uganda. Prior to his appointment to his current position, he served as the Director of Industry Affairs and Content (Economic Affairs) at the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC).
In 1977 Chris Kaijuka lost his job but his determination to succeed saw him get into building a personal business that has changed his life. From the time Mr KAIJUKA lost his job in 1977, Mr Chris vowed not to search for a job but instead venture a feild of familiar trend with him where he decided to enterprise into the line of agriculture produce manufacturing, exchange and general trade.
After a stipulated time lapse, Mr KAIJUKA made a break through with all his enterprises and forth Afro Kai was born, a company championed by leadership and guidance of Mr KAIJUKA dealing in agriculture produce and seeds breeding, manufacturing and general agricultural trade supplies. Mr Chris in the agricultural sector is one the biggest stakeholders on the African continent and drew inspiration from the love to see a change within the agricultural sector of the country Uganda and our beloved continent Africa at large.
Mrs.Angela Bageine is a Management Consultant who has taken the professional training world by storm. A strong advocate for excellence and personal development, Angela’s strengths lie in organizational change, business development and business process management. She has developed strategic plans for various organizations in Uganda and revamps systems that require next level growth.
Angela has partnered with various organisations on consultancy basis including Housing Finance Bank, Letshego Uganda Limited, Platinum Credit Uganda, Airtel Uganda, TMR International Hospital, Neptune Financial Solutions, Electricity Rural Electrification Uganda, American Tower Corporation Uganda, among others. Her years of service in the Banking sector equipped her with expertise to advise on Bank related and organizational operational matters. Angela is married and has 4 children. She paints water canvasses and children’s cartoons, writes books, and frolics in advanced cooking- a passion for the finer palate. In addition, she is a member of several clubs including Lions Clubs International where she has served as a Club President.
